Pink’s Hot Dog Now Open in Las Vegas

Pink’s Hot Dog in Los Angeles is definitely a tourist stop.  When you’re driving on Melrose Ave. and La Brea Ave. and see a long line on the sidewalk look no further.  Right around the corner will be Pink’s.  Pink’s has been around from 1939 in the same location.  Paul Pink started this joint in a push cart when hot dogs sold for just 10 cents each.  In 1946, he traded his push cart in for an actual building and the rest is history.  The dogs are made in under 30 seconds so no matter how long the line is, you will get your meal pretty quickly.

Though I have lived in Southern California all my life and passed by this location many times, I have never stopped.  I am not sure why but just never an opportunity, I guess.  When I visited Las Vegas, I noticed a Pink’s at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on the Strip and was so excited.  Though it’s not the original location, I just had to try it.  The place was so cute.  Everything was of course pink.  They even had pink fans!

Their menu selection was so huge and complex that it took me a while to decide.  They had hot dogs that were named after celebrities, Hollywood Streets and even hamburgers!  As boring as it may sound, I decided to get just a regular hot dog with ketchup, mustard, relish and onions.  My husband got a Polish dog with ketchup, mustard, relish, onions and lettuce.  As for a side, we ordered french fries.  The hot dogs were pretty good.  Would I say it was super special, probably not.  But this could be because I just ordered the regular, old fashioned dog.  The next time I order a hot dog, I would definitely like to order one of the unique hot dogs.  I just need about 5 minutes or so to decide which dog I would like to order.  So I challenge you, if you are ever in Hollywood, Las Vegas, the LAX airport, or Universal City Walk, make sure you stop by and have yourself a Pink’s Hot Dog (try one of the special ones).
