Happy Birthday To Me via Black Market Bakery!

January 19th was my birthday and to celebrate, my wonderful sister in law bought me this amazing cake!  She purchased the cake from the Black Market Bakery in Costa Mesa.  I had never heard of the Black Bakery until she told me about it but apparently, it’s a super popular bakery.  The cake she got me was called the Dark Chocolate Mousse cake.  It was SO delicious!  She mentioned that it normally sells out so she had to reserve the cake the prior day.  I felt so special!  Just a heads up, it is quite rich so perhaps pairing it with some milk/soy milk may be good. I am a…

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for Everyone

Do you like ice cream?  I sure do.  What I’ve noticed in the past couple of years is the rising in price for ice cream at the grocery store.  I recently read that there is a current shortage of vanilla which is used in ice cream that may make the price of ice cream cartons rise.  Stock your fridge now!  Even more than the cost of ice cream cartons rising, ice cream purchased at ice cream shops have increased as well.  For the price of one scoop of ice cream in a shop, you can buy almost a whole carton of ice cream at the store!  Such a simple concoction…

    Cupcakes are Just Divine-Velvet Cupcakes!

Cupcakes are just one of those desserts that no matter what kind it is, you just can’t really eat just one.  Well atleast for me, that’s how it is.  They are so easy to make but can look so beautiful.  Here in L.A., cupcake specialty shops have been popping up in the last couple of years and have been very successful.  I believe the most famous one out there is called Sprinkles.  Sadly, I have not experienced one of their cupcakes just yet but I plan to one day.  And when I do, I will definitely blog about it.  Though cupcake specialty stores are cute and fun, make sure you…

Serendipity 3 in Las Vegas Rocks!

Living in S. Cal, a perfect weekend getaway is Las Vegas.  It’s not too far to drive but far enough that you feel as though you are taking a break from life.  From S. Cal, the drive to Vegas is anywhere from 4-6 hours depending on how often you stop on the way out or traffic.  Friday drives through the desert gets pretty crowded because everyone has the same idea as you.  They have a desire to getaway but not too far away. When my husband and I visit Vegas, it’s all about the food.  The food here is AMAZING!  There are so many unique and delicious restaurants especially on…

    S’mores on Wheels

Many of us may not realize that food trucks have been around for a very long time. Think of a typical hot dog cart. Basically this is probably the most simple food truck you’ll find. I don’t think they were looked at as trendy back in the day as they are now. Food truck events are popping up everywhere. In L.A., there are special events just for food trucks to congregate. People come from all over town just to experience this type of event. Some food trucks even have Facebook and Twitter accounts so die hard fans can follow and find out what city their favorite restaurant on wheels will…

    Universal Studios Hollywood Part 2

As I mentioned yesterday, my husband and I visited Universal Studios Hollywood recently (Click here to read previous blog entry for full story). It’s so amazing how much unique food items they have there. As we walked around the theme park, I saw the most interesting thing in the world. It amazed me so much I had to take a picture. This Universal Studios worker was selling hot chocolate on the go! He had a backpack looking thing that held hot chocolate inside and a hose that dispensed the hot chocolate! It was so neat! Alongside the hot chocolate backpack was a cup dispenser. All in one! Whoever created this…
