Cupcakes are just one of those desserts that no matter what kind it is, you just can’t really eat just one. Well atleast for me, that’s how it is. They are so easy to make but can look so beautiful. Here in L.A., cupcake specialty shops have been popping up in the last couple of years and have been very successful. I believe the most famous one out there is called Sprinkles. Sadly, I have not experienced one of their cupcakes just yet but I plan to one day. And when I do, I will definitely blog about it. Though cupcake specialty stores are cute and fun, make sure you bring your wallet because each cupcake will cost you atleast $3.
I was so excited because in the mall in my town, a cupcake shop opened up called Velvet Cupcakes. I’m not sure if the price is just too high or people aren’t that into cupcakes in my valley, it’s not that busy. My friend and I felt a little uncomfortable walking in since there weren’t any other customers inside which meant, if we walk in, we should probably buy something. I guess, we could have just walk back out if we decided not to buy anything but…it’s CUPCAKES. How can you say “no.” I will dip into my savings just this once for a $3 cupcake. The store was so cute and the decor was super trendy. The only bummer thing was the lack of customer service. We were not greeted or asked if we could be helped. We were the only ones there trying to give them business (please don’t get me started on bad customer service)! Anyway, I got over that real fast because right in front of my eyes were delicious looking, divine cupcakes! There was probably about 8 flavors displayed in their case.
I decided to get the Chocolate Mint cupcake and my friend got the Strawberry. Aren’t they beautiful! What amazing marketing but they even had Velvet Cupcake labeled water which we all know after having cake, you do get thirsty…kinda like ice cream. We definitely enjoyed our $3 cupcake and wanted more but perhaps next time. There’s another cupcake shop that opened in my town called Bake You Happy. They actually won on the Food Network Show “Cupcake Wars.” Gotta try there as well! Too many cupcakes and not enough time or money!
